Mastering

The first listen is
always so exciting to hear. First impressions
both musically and sonically. We then begin to
process each song, one at a time. Processing?
Good question. Well some of it may be our little
secret, but most of it is just good ole
fashioned listening and tweaking. Reggae, how
much bass? Is is bright enough? too bright? As
we begin to work on it, our goal is to create a
final master which is clear and balanced. Sounds
easy, right? The challenge is to take a mix and
make sure its sonically pleasing and balanced. A
big issue is how loud should the master be? That
is part of the expertise in knowing just where
the sweet level spot is for both the song, and
the cd. We truly spend a lot of time and care in
creating the best possible master for you,
living with it and listen intimately for hours
on end. As you listen you develop a sense for
which direct to go sonically. Each song has its
special characteristics which need to be
highlighted, while maintaining continuity with
all the other song.
Another large part of our mastering process in now creating very high
quality mp3s.
What does that mean? After we master and have created our final 24bit wav
file, we then can create the highest quality possible, 320 kbps mp3s. When
created directly from a 24 bit file as opposed to a 16 bit audio cd, the
quality is improved. Also using the latest mp3encoders and some of the best
mastering technology available, the files we create are some of the most
sonically pleasing you will hear. The next step is to properly tag you mp3
files with metedata. Artist, titles, credits, website address, ISRC codes,
album art, and a few other details about you music. The files are then perfect
for myspace, myreggae and wherever else you may choose. The bit rate of
I-Tunes is only 128kbps.Why not have the best possible sounding mp3 for the
world to hear?
